Ever heard of a Pummelo? Or a Pomelo? Or a Pommelo? What about a Jeruk Bali? Or Chinese Grapefruit? A Jabong? Or a Lusho Fruit? Or (my personal favorite) a pompelmous (which in some foreign language that I can't pronounce means a pompous lemon - Get it? Haha!)?
If it sounds like I was just reciting from wikipedia...well I was. But those are all the same names for what I call a pummelo (or a pompelmous when I need a giggle). Well the other day my boys and I bought one to try just for fun. And boy was it delicious! It tastes like a sweet grapefruit without the tartness.
How healthy is it?
Click here to see the pummelo nutrition facts. It's full of vitamins and minerals that our body needs this time of year - especially vitamin C - wow 619%!
I don't have any recipes for these....I just discovered them myself. But I'm guessing I'll enjoy them best raw! Delicious!
*Update: I found a cool recipe for these that I want to try: Candied pomelo peel from Ruth's Real Food! Mmmh!
